Jimmy Butler’s (Miami) phenomenal performance was described by one of his opponents.

Butler is the hottest player in these 2023 playoffs. He came into the playoffs as the No. 8 seed in the East and made it all the way to the Eastern Conference Finals. Milwaukee, the No. 1 seed, was swept by Butler, ending their season prematurely.

“Looking back on it now, it was fun,” Halladay said. You train to play the best players, and it’s my job to defend the best players. But the reality is, my ass was on Butler the whole time,” he admitted in defeat.

“He was trash-talking and it was tough. Butler is an incredibly competitive player. No one could stop him. I don’t think LeBron James or Michael Jordan could have stopped him, let alone our own Brooke Lopez. He was just a different level of player.”

Halladay is a three-time All-Defensive First Team and two-time All-Defensive Second Team honoree. The league recognizes defense when it sees it. This is the same Halladay who had a huge breakdown against Butler in the first round. His description is realistic. “It’s not me, it’s Jordan, it’s LeBron, he can’t stop me,” he said.
