Manchester United is planning to sell players to raise funds to sign a striker.
British outlet ‘Football Insider’ reported on May 25 (KST), “United are interested in Harry Kane and Rasmus Højlund. United are ready to sell players to raise the funds needed to sign a big striker. Scott McTominay, Eric Bailly, Fred and Dean Henderson are on the list.”
Last season, United seemed to have emerged from the dark ages. After a shaky start under Eric ten Haag, they gradually came into their own. The Red Devils finished third in the league and qualified for the UEFA Champions League (UCL). In the FA Cup, they made it all the way to the final, albeit losing to Manchester City. In the English Football League Cup (EFL Cup), they defeated Newcastle United to lift the trophy for the first time in six years.
It was a successful season, but the problems up front were deep. Cristiano Ronaldo was sent to Saudi Arabia for the season, and Butt Verhoeven failed to fulfill his role. Marcus Rashford’s goal-scoring prowess has kept him up front, but injuries have hampered him, and Rashford is more of a winger. United need a striker they can count on to score goals 안전놀이터.
Kane and Hojelin were the two players United were most interested in. United have been courting Kane for a long time. But Tottenham were stubborn. They had no intention of selling Kane, so they turned their attention to Hooper.
He’s been called the “next Holland” and is a promising young striker. He’s a big guy at 6-foot-2, but he’s also fast. He uses his quick feet to get behind the defense. He has a good shot and can score from any position. He’s also very active, harassing opponents with pressure up front and sometimes dropping into the midfield to help set up attacks. His style of play is similar to that of Elling Holland.
United were very aggressive in their pursuit of Hoi Lun. They made two offers to Atalanta, both of which were rejected. The first offer was €35 million ($49.8 billion) and the second was €48 million ($68.3 billion). Atalanta have set a maximum price tag of €86 million for Hojelun.
However, things are not looking good for United. According to the Daily Mail, “United will not bid more than £60 million ($983 million) for Hoi Lun. United’s budget is tight, having already spent £110 million on Mason Mount and Andre Onana. They will have to sell players in order to sign Hooper,” the report said.
United have sent off Anthony Elanga and Alex Telles. McTominay, Fred, Bailly, and Henderson are on United’s selling list. These players are not in Van Gaal’s plans. United are planning to sell a number of players to raise funds.
Meanwhile, Tottenham have opened their minds to selling Kane. There’s hope for United, but it’s all about the transfer fee and Kane’s mindset. Spurs have set a minimum price tag of £100 million for Kane. And Kane appears to have his heart set on a move to Bayern Munich.
