‘Choi Won-tae 7th consecutive QS + Lee Jung-hoo final hit’ Kiwoom wins 4th straight in 59 days over KIA

The Kiwoom Heroes defeated the KIA Tigers for the second consecutive day to extend their winning streak to four games.

Kiwoom won 2-1 at home against KIA in the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul on 14 April.

With the win, Kiwoom improved its record to 27 wins, 1 draw and 34 losses and extended its winning streak to four. It was their first four-game winning streak in 59 days since 16 April against KIA in Gochuk. It also secured a three-game midweek series sweep. KIA, on the other hand, fell to 25-30 on the season and suffered their third straight loss.

Kiwoom got a strong start from starter Choi Won-tae, who pitched seven innings of eight-hit ball, striking out three and walking one. At the plate, Lee Jung-hoo had the game-winning hit and Edison Russell had the tying RBI.

KIA was unable to secure the win despite a strong outing from starter Shawn Anderson, who allowed two runs on seven hits and five walks while striking out nine.

KIA had the first laugh. In the top of the third, Kim Kyu-sung singled to right, Ryu Ji-hyuk sacrificed and Choi Won-jun singled to centre to put runners on first and third. Socrates Brito then hit a grounder to the second baseman, allowing Kim to cross home plate.

In the bottom of the fourth, Kiwoom tied the game. With one out, Lee Jung-hoo tripled to left-centre and Edison Russell singled up the middle.

In the top of the fifth, Ryu Ji-hyuk led off with a double to right-centre and moved to third on Choi Won-joon’s fly ball to right, but the next batter, Socrates Brito, grounded out to second.

In the top of the sixth, KIA had another chance. With two outs, Lee Woo-sung hit a single to left-centre and stole second base. However, Park Chan-ho struck out looking for a strike three.

Kim turned the game around. In the bottom of the sixth, leadoff hitter Kim Hye-sung blasted a triple to right-centre, and Lee Jung-hoo followed with a sacrifice fly to right field.

In the top of the ninth, Kiwoom called on closer Im Chang-min. He gave up a walk to Lee Chang-jin, a single to Lee Woo-sung and a sacrifice bunt to Park Chan-ho to put runners on first and second. However, he struck out pinch-hitter Kim Sun-bin on a straight hit to first base and Kim Kyu-sung on a fly ball to left field to preserve the lead. 토토사이트
