Egyptian giants Al Ahly are close to finalizing the signing of Jeonbuk Hyundai forward Gustavo.
Egyptian media outlet Al Zayyida reported that Al Ahly has finalized the signing of Gustavo on a three-year contract. It quoted Gustavo’s agent as saying, “He will arrive in Cairo in the next few hours for a medical that will take place before Al Ahly officially announces his transfer. He is the second signing for the club after Egyptian international Imam Ashour, who recently joined Danish club FC Midtjylland.”
Gustavo joined Jeonbuk in 2020 and has scored 30 goals and provided 11 assists in 101 K League games. He also scored a goal against Suwon FC in the 23rd round of the Hana OneQ K League 2023 at Jeonju World Cup Stadium on April 16, leading the team to a 1-0 victory. However, the Suwon FC performance is likely to be Gustavo’s last. 먹튀검증
Al Ahly also made a bid for Gustavo in the winter transfer window last year. The deal didn’t go through at the time. It caused quite a stir, with the Al Ahly president claiming in a media interview that the agent was demanding an excessive agent fee. However, the club has renewed its pursuit and appears to be close to finalizing a deal.
Meanwhile, Jeonbuk will need to prepare for the departure of two strikers, Cho Kyu-sung and Gustavo, in the summer transfer window.
