Ryu Hyun-jin, 36, who is rehabbing from elbow ligament reconstruction surgery, has joined the Toronto Blue Jays roster.
The team posted a short video of Ryu making a “V” with his fingers as he walked off the field at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida, with the Korean phrase “hello friend” on social media on Sept. 23.
Ryu reunited with the team for a four-game series against the Tampa Bay Rays on April 26.
This is the first time Ryu has traveled with the team since the start of the season. The move was made possible because he is rehabbing at the club’s training facility in Dunedin, close to Tropicana Field. Ryu was joined by pitcher Chad Green, who is also rehabbing.
Ryu will accompany the team on the four-game road trip and will also pitch out of the bullpen. The coaching staff, including manager John Schneider, will monitor Ryu’s rehabilitation.
Ryu, who signed a four-year, $80 million contract with Toronto after the 2019 season, is in the final year of his deal. He is hoping to return in the second half of the season 스포츠토토.
