It’s really starting to take off, and we’re on our way to the finals. Just four days after officially stepping onto the LPBA stage, she’s already crowned two champions and reached the quarterfinals.
On March 15, Jang Ga-yeon (Huon’s) rallied back from a 2-1 deficit against Kang Ji-eun (SK Rent-a-Car) to advance to the quarterfinals of the LPBA Championship at Blue One Resort in Gyeongju.
In the first game, Kang Ji-eun took the lead with four consecutive points in three innings. For a while, there was an offensive rally. Jang Ga-yeon struggled to take a step forward after the second point. Kang Ji-eun then broke through the hitting barrier and racked up eight points in the ninth inning. She took the first set 11-2 with ease.
The second set started with a similar situation. However, Jang gradually built up her points to tie the score at 4-4. She then began to pull away in the sixth game, scoring four consecutive points in the eighth game to take a 10-4 lead. Kang was unable to break through the barrier of match point. At 11-4 in the second set, Jang Ga-yeon broke back to level the game.

This was a major upset, as the two-time LPBA champion turned her back on two rookies in Lim Jung-sook and Kang Ji-eun.
Elsewhere, Lee Yoo-joo defeated Kim Ye-eun (Welcome Savings Bank) 2-0 to reach the quarterfinals. Hwang Min-ji, Kim Min-ah (NH Card), Kim Ga-young (Hana Card), Oh Soo-jeong, Lee Im-rae (Hi One Resort), and Kim Bomi (NH Card) also reached the quarterfinals.
In the quarterfinals, Kim Bomi moved into first place overall with six high runs and a 1.294 average, followed by Lee Im-Rae with a 1.158 average and Oh Soo-Jung with a 0.957 average.
The LPBA quarterfinals will continue on Saturday at 6 p.m. with Kim Min-ah-Jang Ga-yeon, Kim Ga-young-Yoo Ju, Oh Soo-jeong-Imae, and Hwang Min-ji-Kim Bomi.
