Jeonbuk Hyundai, a professional soccer team in the K League, is on the verge of a resurgence. The return of Kim Jin-soo and Cho Kyu-sung, who were sidelined with injuries, has helped the team regain its form.
Jeonbuk beat Paju Min Football Club 5-2 in the round of 16 of the 2023 Hana OneQ Korea Football Association (FA) Cup at Jeonju World Cup Stadium on April 24 to reach the quarterfinals.
The victory extended Jeonbuk’s unbeaten streak in the K League regular season to five games after going unbeaten in four consecutive matches.
Kim Jin-soo and Cho Kyu-sung, both of whom have been battling injuries, played a key role in the win. Kim Jin-soo and Cho Kyu-sung came off the bench to lead the team to victory.
Cho was the first to enter the game. He replaced Andre Luis in the 18th minute of the second half with the score tied at 2-2. He was active in the defense and then moved up front to compete for headers.
Kim Jin-soo came on at the start of extra time. He made some sharp moves on the left flank and contributed to the goal that made it 3-2. In the 13th minute of the first overtime, Kim won the ball near the corner flank and deftly passed it to Moon Sun-min, who set up Gustavo’s goal 먹튀검증.
Kim Jin-soo also assisted Park Jin-seop’s header with a precise left-footed cross in the fifth minute of extra time.
Cho Kyu-sung scored the final goal of the game. In the 10th minute of the second half of extra time, Cho broke down the flank and delivered a precise ground-ball cross to Gustavo, who rushed into the box and easily rattled the net.
In the 13th minute of the second half of overtime, Cho Kyu-sung and Kim Jin-soo combined to create a threatening scene. Cho Kyu-sung dribbled his way into the opponent’s half, and Kim Jin-soo followed up with a powerful left-footed mid-range shot.
With the return of Kim Jin-soo and Cho Kyu-sung, it will be interesting to see if Jeonbuk can improve its league position from its current seventh place.
