Neymar could link up with Lee Kang-in.
European soccer transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano, who works for the British newspaper The Guardian, shared the details of Neymar’s interview on his social media on Tuesday (June 20). Neymar recently gave an interview to Brazilian media outlet Caze TV, in which he opened up about his future.
Neymar said, “I want to start next season at Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). I still have a contract with PSG and no one has told me otherwise. Whether the fans love me or not, I will stay at PSG,” he said, confirming that he will play for the club next season.
Neymar joined PSG from Barcelona and has been the team’s ace since the 2017-18 season. His excellent dribbling and playmaking abilities allow him to play on the flanks and in the center of the field, and he is responsible for the team’s offense as a whole. Despite the fact that he faces a lot of pressure and is often injured, Neymar is indispensable for PSG. Since the arrival of Kylian Mbappe, Neymar’s presence has grown even more with the synergy.
He’ll be joined by other teammates next season. PSG has built a young squad this summer with the signings of Milan Skriniar, Marco Asensio, Manuel Ugarte, and Lee Kang-In. With much of the transfer window still open, there’s still time for PSG to add more players. Currently, frontline strikers such as Harry Kane, Dusan Blahovic, and Gonzalo Higuain have been linked to PSG.
The main concern for domestic fans is the pairing of Lee Kang-in and Neymar. Last season’s ace for Mallorca, Lee has been pushing for a move ahead of this summer’s transfer window. He was initially linked with a move to Atletico Madrid, but talks between the clubs stalled and eventually fell through. PSG then approached the player and quickly reached a personal agreement. Despite the delay between PSG and Mallorca, the transfer did not go through.
Lee made waves when he joined Neymar for his first training session since joining PSG after wrapping up his domestic schedule, and the sight of the “world class” player in the same shot was enough to grab the attention of fans in Korea. In the subsequent video, he was shown to be even closer to Neymar, smiling and hugging him. Fans in Korea were hoping for a picture of Lee Kang-in and Neymar playing together next season.
Judging by Neymar’s comments, their dreams could come true. Neymar’s comments are effectively a declaration of intent to stay. Of course, Neymar is more of an established starter, and Lee will have to fight for a spot, but if Lee shows promise in the preseason, we could see them together in the regular season.
In his first interview with the club since joining, Lee said, “I’m happy to join PSG. PSG is one of the greatest clubs in the world, with some of the best players in the world. I can’t wait to start my new adventure, I want to make the fans happy on the pitch and I’m looking forward to meeting them.”
The news has been eagerly awaited by fans. After emerging as Mallorca’s ace last season, Lee’s consistent performances over the course of the season have seen him develop into one of the most sought-after midfielders in Spanish La Liga, and he has attracted interest from a number of clubs since last winter, including a number of English Premier League (EPL) clubs.
After completing his domestic schedule, including two A-League matches in June, Lee recently traveled to Paris to join the team in training. On June 11, PSG released a photo of Lee training with his teammates. Lee was seen with a big smile on his face. Among the photos was a “two-shot” with Neymar. Fans were thrilled to see Lee with the world-class player as a teammate 먹튀검증.
Just seven months ago, the two were swapping jerseys. Lee asked Neymar to swap jerseys after Brazil’s loss to Argentina in the round of 16 at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar late last year, and Neymar readily accepted. The video of Lee winking at Neymar after exchanging jerseys went viral on social media.
Now they’re teammates. For seven months, Neymar secured his place at PSG, while Lee made the step up to the big club in Mallorca. After seven months, the two players are now teammates, playing in the same jersey, rather than swapping jerseys.
It will be interesting to see how they work together. Both Neymar and Lee excel at taking the pressure off the opposition and creating chances for their teammates. Despite their different styles, both players are also excellent dribblers. In addition, Neymar has already established a good rapport with domestic fans through his national team friendlies, so a good relationship with Lee will help him be remembered in a positive light by domestic fans.
PSG, meanwhile, is enjoying the benefits of Lee’s marketing. His jersey is currently selling like hotcakes on PSG’s official website. PSG must be feeling the Korean marketing through Lee Kang-in that Mallorca experienced last season. PSG has also opened an official social media account for Korean fans and is working hard to promote Lee, just as they paddle when the water comes in.
