Will ‘Pirate Captain’ Andrew McCutchen, 37, be invited back to the Midsummer Classic?
“I’m thinking about it,” McCutchen told reporters after the Pirates’ home game against the Milwaukee Brewers on July 1, and he acknowledged that he would like to play in the All-Star game 먹튀검증.
Since returning to Pittsburgh, McCutchen is batting .287 with a .399 on-base percentage, .455 slugging percentage, 10 home runs and 28 RBIs in 70 games. His 0.854 OPS is his best production since 2015, when he was an All-Star and Silver Slugger.
He was once an All-Star regular. He was named to the All-Star team five years in a row from 2011 to 2015, making a name for himself as the team’s go-to hitter.
If selected, it would be his first return to the star-studded event in eight years. “It would be great to go back,” he said of his All-Star aspirations.
In the National League All-Star Fan Vote, J.D. Martinez was selected to start at designated hitter. For McCutchen to make the All-Star team, he’ll need a player vote or commissioner’s pick. The roster will be released on March 3.
“It’s not up to me (to make the All-Star team),” McCutchen said, but he’s excited about his chances, noting that “there aren’t too many guys in the National League who have played a lot of minutes at designated hitter.”
“I’m working really hard,” he said. I haven’t given up on myself. I know what I’m capable of, so I’m going to keep working on it,” he said, emphasizing that he is putting in a lot of work.
“He’s had a really good month,” said head coach Derek Shelton in an interview ahead of Day 2. I think he’s got a good chance, not just for the month of June, but for what he’s done all season,” Shelton said, arguing that McCutchen deserves a spot on the All-Star team.
“I think McCutchen has earned his way into All-Star consideration,” said Shelton, who also mentioned starter Mitch Keller and closer David Bednar as “strong All-Star candidates” in addition to McCutchen. I’m looking forward to the announcement tomorrow. I think he deserves it.” 메이저놀이터순위
